Taiwan Oppose China's Unilateral Implementation Of M503 Flight Route

Reported by Chiu Kuo-rong

In the afternoon of March 4, members of Economic Democracy Union(EDU), an umbrella organization of former Democratic Frontline of Anti-Blackbox Service & Trade Act, protestedbefore the Taipei branch offices of China Southern Airlines and Xiamen Air. Strong anger and discontents were roared against China's arbitrary implementation of M503 flight route from March 5th 2015.

Lawyer Lai Chung-chian, spokesman of EDU, urged Taiwan people stop China's military ambition making Taiwan Strait become China's inner sea. "Because the distance between M503 route and the median line of Taiwan Strait is 7.8 kilometer only; not only Taiwan's Flight Information Zone is severely threatened, but also M503 could become a line of departure for China's military invasion."

According to the coverage of Apple Daily, a national newspaper, Mrs Kuan Pi-ling, who is a DPP lawmaker in Transportation Committee of Legislative Yuan, warned that China's fighter jet could penetrate into Taiwan's air defense territory within 16. 35 seconds through high altitude air or within 27.23 seconds through low altitude air, once M503 route is set up. Lawyer Lai Chung-chian even reminded that China's fighter jet could reach Taipei, Taiwan's Capital, within 5 minutes.

Rev. Lin Wei-lian, Secretary of PCT Church and Society Committee, asked Taiwan society giving a serious concern about this event as the door of Taiwan is violently trespassed. At the protesting site, Rev. Lin also lead the assembly to chant the slogan: "Save Our Country, By Our Hands!".
