Prof Wolfgang Huber Starts His Itinerary Theological Lectures In Taiwan For Reformation 500

To celebrate the 500 anniversary of the Protestant reformation, initiated at 1517 by Martin Luther, a series oftheological lectures launched from August 2016 were jointly held by the PCT General Assembly, South and North Press, Taiwan Theological Seminary and College and Yu-Shan Theological Seminary and College.

From 16 October to the end of this month, Prof Wolfgang Huber, a prominent German theologian and ethicistspecializing in the fields of Christian ethics and systematic theology, is invited to deliver his thoughts entitled as "The Challenges of Christian Ethics In Modern Society".

As a scholar, Prof Huber once taught in the University of Marburg and the University of Heidelberg and served asmember of the Central and Executive Committees of the World Council of Churches from 1998 to 2001; as a clergyman, he had also served as bishop of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia until November 2009 and acted as the chairperson of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) in November 2003. In 2011, Prof Huber was even recommended by SPD party as a candidate for German President after President Horst Köhler's resignation in 2010.

To build up a society or a country with more "responsible freedom" and "reasonable pacifism", Prof Huber preparesto share with Taiwan society on the ecumenical issues of human rights, inter-religious tolerance, ethics and transitional justice from his distinctive German viewpoints and experiences.
