Rev, Chuang Song-wei, pastor of Lugu Presbyterian Church, remarked that local churches from differentdenominations had to be united together to proclaim and witness the gospel, especially the population of Lugu township were increasingly attracted into big cities and the extant registered believers of four local churches also declined to below 100 people. Celebrating a diamond jubilee for the evangelical mission in Lugu township demonstrated an action of unity inChrist and a determination to go beyond traditional denominational borders, said Rev. Chuang. Accommodated and supported by the Lugu Tea Cultural Hall, there were about 500 people attended this united thanks-giving service assisted with the choirs from each church. In his sermon, Rev. Chuang reminded the audience, though the calamity of scarcity, earthquake, flood and population outflow once threatened Lugu township with crisis, that "God always led us go through all these hardships! Let the fire of this evangelical mission not be quenched! Here and now, we carry on!" At the end of service, the audience were significantly and abundantly blessed by Rev. Lu Wen-huei, the first ever missionary sent into Lugu township. Translated by Peter Wolfe |
