Fr. Anselm Grün Shows Up In HK Occupy Central, Saying Church Is Salt Not Butter!

Fr. AnselmGrün, the Cellerar of St. Benedict Müsterschwarzach Abbey and a famous author with 300 books focusing on spirituality, accidentally shows up within Hong Kong's Occupy Central movement to experience the so-called "umbrella revolution" in the evening of September 30.

Invited by Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council Limited, Fr. Grün arrives Hong Kong on September 30 to deliver a speech about management - titled as "How to be a leader of happiness - the servant leadership and conflict management". As Fr. Grün's stayin HK just bumps into the period of Occupy Central movement,to understand the HK most urgent situations he goes to the Central site accompanied by Wu Hsin-hu - President of South & North Publishing Company. On their way to site, they came across several Taiwan exchange students and some church youth from Hsin Yin Presbyterian Church of Cha-yi Presbytery.

Fr. Grün said what Hong Kong people want to express among the Occupy Central movement is their determination to follow the values of democracy, freedom and human rights. And the Church should hold on to these universal values as well to play like salt, not butter! As only the salt can do the prophetic job better than butter to cleanse the world.
