The Family and Friends of the Very Reverend Dr. Sang Chul Lee

On behalf of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) officers and members we write these few words to express our sincere condolences on the passing of the Lord’s servant the Very Reverend Dr. Sang Chul Lee.

During his terms as Moderator of the United Church in Canada (UCC) the PCT valued his leadership and example; how he faithfully lifted the voices of the voiceless, the isolated and oppressed tackling very often difficult and challenging issues. This he did with compassion and grace.

Rev. Dr. Lee was not only an important leader in Canada. As the first Asian moderator of the UCC, he was also a faithful and loyal friend of its ecumenical partners, including the Taiwanese church and community. We humbly recall how he stood with us in the Taiwanese struggle for human rights and democracy.

We thank God for Rev. Dr. Sang Chul Lee - his leadership, wisdom, fellowship and friendship to PCT over the years. As you gather to honour and celebrate his life on 1 February we pray the Lord will comfort you his loved ones and the wider church family he served so diligently and faithfully.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
