Words of condolences on the going home of former missionary partner Mrs. Elspeth M Browne (Crofts)

The Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) former colleagues and missionary friends received word that Mrs. Elspeth M. Browne (Crofts) was called home on 13 July 2017 peacefully, in the care of Thornfield House, Selkirk. The news was received with a mixture of sadness and yet gratitude knowing that Elspeth is now at peace with the Lord. We are grateful for all who cared for her wellbeing in the last years especially as she faced the lonely and isolated challenges of dementia.

Elspeth Browne (then Crofts) came to serve the Lord in Taiwan for a period in her life as a missionary partner sent by the Presbyterian Church of England EPM (now the United Reformed Church). After spending time learning our Taiwanese language she took up her nursing duties at the PCT Changhua Christian Hospital under the supervision of the late Dr. David Landsborough. She was part of the PCT family from 1962 until 1970 when she had to return home earlier than planned for family reasons and did not resume her service at CCH. Having settled back in UK she subsequently married (the late) Rev. Percy N. Browne. Though her time in CCH was cut short she is still remembered.

Funeral Service will take place at Borders Crematorium, Melrose, http://www.borderscrem.co.uk/ on Thursday, July 27, at 12 noon, to which all friends are invited. No flowers but donations if desired to Selkirk Dry Bar Association or Christian Aid.
