Survey opens for WCC member churches on interreligious relations

With the aim of further developing the work of the World Council of Churches (WCC) in the field of interreligious relations, the WCC is opening a new survey seeking information about experience and activities of WCC member churches in interreligious relations.

“Many conversations with church leaders raise the question of how we as Christians relate to our neighbours from other religious communities,” wrote WCC interim general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca in a letter to WCC member churches. “At the WCC, our team on Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation seeks to support and provide resources for our member churches in this field, and to build up and strengthen cooperative relationships with Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, and Sikh organizations.”

This survey also aims to further develop the work of the WCC’s network of people involved in interreligious engagement, which was launched in Cardiff, Wales in October 2019. “As we seek to develop this network, we recognize our need for a fuller understanding of the involvement of all our member churches in interreligious relations today. We want to hear from each church about their experience and activities, and about how we can learn more from and support each other in this field” wrote Sauca.

The deadline for sending responses to the survey is 22 November, 2020.
