Taiwan Church News 3223 Edition December 2 - December 8, 2013 Church Ministry News A Hui Beh - Taiwan's Moses, A Hymn Praying For Taiwan's Democracy Is Presented Before Former President Lee Teng-hui Reported by Lin Jia-jing In the night of November 28th, Thanksgiving Day, Rev. Lyim Hong-tiong led a team of pastors and co-workers visiting former President Lee Teng-hui. As Christmas was impending, plus Lee's birthday was also near, a hymn titled "A Hui Beh - Taiwan's Moses" and composed by Rev. Tin Jyi-giokk was presented to Lee. This spiritual hymn is not only to bless Lee at this thanksgiving day, but also intended to pray for Taiwan's democracy. "A Hui Beh" is Lee's nickname in Taiwanese society. For a long time past, PCT pastors were always received invitation to deliver a thanksgiving homily in Lee's home. This service went to stop due to Lee's health about several years before. So, when PCT pastors and co-workers went to visit Lee this time, only a hymn is prepared for a short time stay as Lee's lung got an inflammation in early November. But, to everyone's surprise, Lee prepared a formal homily script like a preacher and shared his messages with the participants. In the meantime, as Rev. Tin Jyi-giokk who is 91 years old and got hospitalized in mid-November was quite wary about his declining health would be too fragile to sustain his clear mind, he did tried his best effort to compose "A Hui Beh - Taiwan's Moses" expecting to express his respect and appreciation for Lee's contribution to Taiwan people.
