Taiwan Church News 3220 Edition November 11 - November 17, 2013 Church Ministry News Famous Catholic Magazine Is Declared To Stop In Print, PCT Members Are Urged To Pray And Care More For Taiwan Church Press Reported by Lin Yi-ying A famous Catholic Magazine, Renlai Magazine, which mainly focused on cultural, social and humanistic and spiritual issues, was declared to stop in print edition after the 110th issue of December 2013. It means a decade of religious magazine will come to an end, since it was founded by Father Wei Min-der in January 2004. Whether Renlai Magazine will carry on its publication as an electronic blog is still unknown. Learning that Renlai Magazine will come to an end in print, Rev. Chen Yu-sheng (TCP President) expressed both his lament and sympathy that it is a very difficult task to engage in evangelical literature ministry in the long run. Therefore, on this special occasion, he wished to attributed his thanksgiving to the prayer and donations from so many Taiwan churches across denominations, which kept supporting Taiwan Church Press running with an amazing 128 years of evangelical literature ministry initiated by the Scotland Missionary - Rev. Thomas Barclay - from 1885. At present there are five major media-print managed by Taiwan Church Press: (1)Taiwan Church News(TCN), which is free of charge with a volume of 22,000 issues per week in print; (2)Taiwan Church News Network, an electronic news website of TCN, which once covered the story, about a tribal school established by Qalang Smagnus tribe in Tayal aboriginal but got fined from the local government, unexpectedly got 20,000 hits on the internet. This phenomenon demonstrated an irresistible and trendy importance of electronic media; (3) Gen-shin, a inspirational pamphlet, with 200,000 issues per week; (4) New Perspective in Biblical Studies, published in a quarterly print; (5) Sweet Home for Parent and Children, an monthly newspaper published in the first week of each month. Facing the gigantic cost of printing and post delivery about these printing materials, Taiwan Church Press still needs 12 millions NT dollars of donations to cover till the end of 2013. Considering the difficult risk and challenges, like Renlai magazine has to suffer, Rev. Chen Yu-sheng of Taiwan Church Press sincerely hope Taiwan Churches across denominations could deliver more care and attention to the evangelical literature ministry: grant the utmost concern, intercession and donation to the ministry of Taiwan Church Press!
