WCC General Secretary Pledges No Support Of "One China" Policy Within WCC

In the afternoon of November 4th, during the 10th WCC Assembly at Busan Korea, Rev. Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit (General Secretary of WCC) held a meeting with Rev. Lyim Hung-tiong(PCT General Secretary), in the company with Dr. Hsu Victor Wang-chi (PCT Vice General Secretary) and Evangelist Yeh Chin-An ( Program Secretary of PCT Ecumenism and International Affairs). As the atmosphere of meeting is warm and constructive, Rev. Tveit accepted the invitation to be one of the speakers in the coming 150th PCT anniversary.

Within the conversation, when the issue was turned to whether WCC had any "One China" policy, Rev. Tveit pledged in a series of "No" to stress there was not any documents within WCC supporting this idea. And he personally had never committed to support this policy. In addition, Rev. Tveit also expressed his sorry to Dr. Hsu Victor Wan-chi about his being unable to be elected as the President of WCC Asia Area, as there was a consideration about gender equality within the election assembly.
