Taiwan Church News 3218 Edition October 28 - November 11, 2013 Church Ministry News Seeks To Join WCC Central Committee And Presidents Group, PCT Asks Intercession For Her Important Participation In WCC 10th Assembly At Busan Reported by Lin Yi-ying The WCC 10th Assembly appealing to "God of life, lead us to justice and peace', were held from October 30th to November 8th at Busan, South Korea. There were 35 PCT members, maximal participants ever in the past history, attending this WCC assembly with an anticipation to recommend Rev. Zeng Yang-en to be elected into Central Committee and Prof. Hsu Victor Wan-chi to be nominated as one of WCC Presidents. After delivering the intention letter by Rev. Lyim Hong-tiong - General Secretary of PCT GAO and seeking support from partner churches overseas, UCCJ, PROK and PCANZ had replied their goodwill to work with PCT. As indicated by Rev. Lyim Hong-tiong, during his report on October 21st at the 2nd meeting of 52th PCT general assembly, that China Church Council(CCC) had clearly requested WCC to grant 2 members of 145 members of Central Committee members as a precondition to join WCC. Therefore, how to preserve the current Central Committee member for PCT, succeeding Zeng Min-ming by Rev. Zeng Yang-en to consolidate the interests of Taiwan's church in WCC becomes a very important issue. Rev. Lyim asked intercession from local churches for PCT's critical participation in the 10th Asssembly. When CCC applied to join WCC in 1991, one of the conditions requested by CCC was that PCT has to be subsumed inside CCC. As WCC stood firm then to express that the admission of CCC should not affect other member's status and rights, PCT could get away with a foreseeable disaster and therefore became more cautious and serious toward our each participation in WCC. This time PCT not only wish to preserve the only Central Committee seat could be succeeded by Rev. Zeng Yang-en in this Busan 10th Assembly, but also nominated Prof. Hsu Victor Wang-jeh to run for the WCC Presidents representing Asia. In order to assure the election process be fair and just, PCT also sent our official WCC representative Supina Nakaisulan to join the Nomination Committee for all elections.
