Taiwan Church News 3207 Edition August 12 - August 18, 2013 Headline News Reported by Lin Yi-ying A sequence of forums were to be held in August, due to a Central Committee resolution of the 58th PCT General Assembly, intending to raise the caution of PCT members about the potential threat from two organizations: Taiwan Civil Government(TCG) and the impending Cross Strait Christian Meeting. Subsequently, this forum was planned to hold 3 sessions in East(Hua-lien), Middle, South and of Taiwan, on August 16th, 20th and 24th at Hualien Tamayuan Church, Tsau-dung Church and Gen-shen Churchrespectively. Speakers invited to talk on these issues are Yau Jia-wen, Kan Jin-sun, Wei Sue-min and Jeng Ming-bing. On the August 12th forum at Taipei, against the dangerous proposal of TCG that the sovereignty of Taiwan belongs to US, YaoJia-wen - Chairman of the Alliance of Taiwan Nation vehemently retorted back: "Only truth can make people free!". But, what is truth? " Truth is fact!" Yao said, "Taiwan does not belong to Japan, America, or even China. Taiwan belongs to Taiwan people. And this is fact." Yao criticized that the existence of TCG did a great harm to Taiwan Independence Movement, and KMTgovernment is glad to see the booming of TCG. PCT, as a contributing partner in Taiwan Independence Movement and confessing in faith manifesto to build "a new and independent state", should steer clear away from the proposals from TCG. Yao worried very mcuh about the phenomenon that many pastors had firmly bought in TCG stories, without knowing that TCGchanged her organization frequently, or even recruited her members by selling their future citizen identity or government officiall post in money. For example, people can spend NTD 1,000 to get a TCG ID card; NTD 5,000 to get a TCG passport; or by donating money to become a TCG official. As these money raising activities had attracted the attention of the police to classify TCG as a fraud criminal organization, Yau warned PCT members should be aware about their possible consequences. Rev. Kan Jin-sun retrieved the history that PCT engaged with China Church Council(CCC). He said, when CCC first time appliedto enter World Church Council(WCC) in 1991, CCC requested that PCT should be kicked out from WCC though failed at last. After that event, when PCT met CCC in most inetrnational occasion, PCT pastors felt a very strong united front urge behind CCC. PCT started to realize that CCC is not a religious organization only. Rev. Kan also reminded how Chinese Cummunist Partypersecuted the Buddhist Fa-Lun-Gon and Tibet religion and cultures, and alarmingly CCC could succumbed herself into the authority of such regime. In order not to become an religious instrument of united front strategy from China, Re. Kang remarked that PCT should express their concern about the development of the Chinese Church. Especially, under the Chinese systematic persecution on religion and human rights, we should pray for the persecuted churches and help the Family Church to develop further. Translated by Peter Wolfe |
