3132 Edition March 5~11, 2012 Church Ministry News Reported by Chen Wei-chien Written by Lydia Ma About 30 youths and young adults from 3 churches in Taichung Presbytery got reacquainted with one another through a camp geared at helping them become friends and collaborate with another in future local church ministries. The 3 churches are part of the presbytery’s Fengyuan District and youths who participated ranged from the sixth grade to recent college graduates. Held in Taiwan Adventist College in Nantou, the camp included adventure, fellowship and discussion activities. According to Taya Presbyterian Church Youth Fellowship President Wang Chao-wei, joint youth events such as this one had not been held in the past 2-3 years and was brought up at a recent meeting. The goal of this camp is to teach youths how to interact with one another in a large group setting and find their place and role in such a setting. He also added that, “For young adults and college students, this camp also offers activities and lessons catered to their age group. They learn virtues such as perseverance and self-affirmation through games.” Wang underscored that there will be more joint events in the near future, including evangelistic outreach activities, because dialogue between youths from these 3 churches was merely a beginning. His hope is that these events will eventually inspire more youths from other churches in Fengyuan District to take part in local evangelistic ministries. |
