The 55th General Assembly of the PCT was held on April 6th, 2010, at Chang Jung Girls High School. It started with the Opening Worship at 2 p.m., with the Moderator, the Rev. Leonard Tsung-Jeng Lin, officiating. He preached a sermon, “Relying on the Lord through affliction to resurrection,” stating that the resurrected Lord has come in to assist us in our weakness and grants us hope and faith. After the worship, the General Secretary, the Rev. Andrew T. C. Chang, introduced the visitors and new missionaries. In the evening, the election of the moderator and other officials was held. The Rev. Hsien-Chang Lai was elected as the Moderator of the 55th General Assembly; the Rev. Lyian-Syian Chiohh, the Vice Moderator; the Rev. Dr. Pusin Tali, the Clerk; and the Rev. Jong-Fong Hsu, the Assistant Clerk. At the installation of the new moderator, the outgoing moderator, Rev. Lin, thanked the General Secretary and other officials for their assistance while he was the moderator. The new moderator, Rev. Lai, thanked him for his service for the Church and presented him with a gift. He then called for the commissioners to remember the ministries of the PCT in their prayers. The theme of the General Assembly this year (2010-2011) is “Let cultures flourish; Let God’s justice take root.” |
