1 October 2009 Rev. Dr. Lutisone Salevao General Secretary Congregational Christian Church in Samoa
Dear Lutisone
As the news of the devastating earthquake and tsunami which has stuck your island region continues to reach us we send these few words to express the concern and empathy of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) to the people of your country and members of the Congregational Christian Church in Samoa (CCCS). According to the media reports here American Samoa experienced the greater impact but we also understand that Western Samoa has also been badly affected and a great many lost their lives. Our hearts and prayers go out to you all in the pacific region. As you will know just over a month ago in early August, Taiwan also suffered a major natural disaster in the form of Typhoon Morakot and we continue to recover. We can therefore, identify fully with the sorrow you are experiencing and extent of the loss and damage. As the situation becomes clearer we will look to receiving your reports; in the meantime please know we hold the grieving families as well as all the victims and relief efforts in our prayers. We pray the Lord be your strength and wisdom as you and your church members in the region discern how to respond in the aftermath of the disaster. Sincerely yours, Rev. Chang Te-Chien (Andrew) PCT General SecretaryLinks for more information: http://www.cwmission.org/news http://www.cwmission.org/churches 1 October 2009
