She was a small & loving dynamo, offering creative practical help & a listening ear. One ongoing result of her creativity & desire to help was The Appreciation Game, a community-building game requested by a friend. As Lucy travelled around the world, she loved & served those around her in the name of Jesus. Lucy was born May 17, 1927 in Montana to Rev. Willard & Dorothy Brown, the middle child of 3. In 1949 Lucy graduated Cum Laude from what is now University of Indianapolis, going on to complete nurses training at Indiana University in 1951 after marrying Paul S. Alexander (歐保羅博士) in 1950. Their eldest daughter Anne was born in 1952, followed by Stephen & Philip in the following 4 years. The children were only 6, 4, and 2 when they moved to Tunghai University, the 1st Christian University in Taiwan. There they spent the following (often difficult) 38 years as missionaries. Along the way Lucy earned an MA in Social Sciences from Azusa Pacific University in 1984. They became involved in Marriage Enrichment, began leading Taiwan workshops in couple communication in 1984, & founded the Family Wellness Center in 1986. They continued to lead workshops in 2 countries, training others to do so as well. The Alexanders lived in Montreat, NC from their retirement in 1996 until 2006, when they moved to Greenwood Village South in Greenwood, IN. Lucy was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Paul Alexander; their sons, Stephen and Philip; and her elder sister Margaret Morrison. Her brother Keith Brown survives her. Lucy is survived by four children: Anne, Dottie (Greg) Wade, Gordon, and Emily (Andy) Eatough. Her grandchildren are Stephanie, Kim, Beth and Daniel Wade, as well as Vera and Lydia Eatough. Mom (Lucy) has joined Dad (Paul) in glory. She was only ill two days this time, as her heart had failed. Her 97 years were full of passion, purpose, drama and triumph, as well as wrestling and growing pains. But mostly she was filled with love of God & others and dedication to their good. She kept going & growing, serving & encouraging, praying & blessing others. Celebration of Life service will be held on June 23, 2024 at 2 p.m., with visitation at 1 p.m. in Southport Presbyterian Church, 7525 McFarland Blvd, Indianapolis, IN 46237. https://www.indystar.com/obituaries/psbn0848274
