Mrs. Lucille Mae Van Heest Schroeder (施清美) (1934-2024) Reformed Church in America (RCA) ( 美國歸正教會) mission partner Mrs. Lucille Mae Van Heest Schroeder (施清美) was called home to the Lord on Monday, 2 Sept 2024 aged 90! Lucille Schroeder was RCA mission partner alongside her (late) husband Rev. Carl J. Schroeder (施嘉爾牧師) from 1957 to 1968. During those years, after initial language study, Lucille Schroeder served in many roles, including leading women’s Bible studies, teaching in the English department at Tunghai University and kindergarten at Morrison Academy, being a den mother for Cub Scouts, and hosting countless individuals in their home, and parenting three children. Throughout her life, Lucille was very active in the Reformed Church in a variety of roles: as a parish elder at Third Reformed Church in Holland, as a small group leader/trainer, part of the prayer team, women’s ministry, and care team, and by starting a single women’s group. She especially loved leading small groups and welcoming visitors and new members. PCT extend their condolences to her three children: David (Margery) Schroeder, Cynthia (Rogelio) Rodriguez, and Catherine Schroeder Risley and their families - six grandchildren one great-grandchild. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 17 at Third Reformed Church, Holland, MI with visitation at 10:00 AM and the service following at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Kids Hope USA or Hope College, Holland, MI. Dr. Alison Margaret Vogel (吳愛琳醫師) (1957-2024) PCT was deeply saddened to receive the unexpected news from Rev. Stuart G. Vogel (吳思篤牧師) our Presbyterian Church Aotearoa New Zealand (紐西蘭長老教會) colleague and former mission partner (Council for Mission and Ecumenical Cooperation NZ), that his spouse Dr. Alison M. Vogel (吳愛琳醫師) went home to the Lord on Friday, 6 September 2024. Stuart wrote: “Alison was battling the ravages of breast cancer. She did so with grace, dignity, seemingly infinite amounts of courage, grit, faith and aroha (love). Thank you everyone for your wonderful words of encouragement to our family with Alison's passing. I can't reply to them all, but they are all just so appreciated. The Chinese saying is really true "和你在一起就是我最喜的地方". "Being with you is my favourite place to be." The funeral is tomorrow (Friday) at 1.30pm at St Barnabas Church, 283 Mt Eden Rd. All welcome of course. The live stream is, for anyone who would like to join is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85436988726... “ Alison and Stuart Vogel were appointed to Taiwan and arrived on 1 January 1985. Following initial period of language study Stuart began serving with PCT Hakka churches. It was a major disappointment that Dr. Alison Vogel was unable to secure doctor’s license to practice in Taiwan. This was due to the lack of “reciprocal recognition” between Taiwan and New Zealand relating to health workers at that time. Consequently having explored all avenues, Alison’s service in Taiwan was sadly curtailed. Following prayerful discernment the Vogels returned to Aotearo New Zealand in 1988 to serve the Lord in their native land. Theyd continued active in the partnership between PCT and PCANZ. In 2015 PCT had the joy of welcoming Alison back at the time of its 150th Anniversary Celebrations. PCT send assurance of our prayers and sincere condolences to Stuart, Tim, Chris and family at this time.
