For Earth Week, Carmen Lansdowne, moderator of The United Church of Canada, writes about actions and choices for climate justice that may preserve our future: “The climate emergency is not just a big problem; it’s the end of the world as we know it… We need to talk about what we want to see from each other. Not confrontationally, where we beat each other over the head about our shortcomings—we need to inspire each other.”

The Presbyterian Church of Korea (PCK) has announced that it will construct 50 containers and a children’s centre for the victims of the earthquake in Turkiye. The project is part of the PCK’s relief efforts for the Turkiye-Syria earthquake in February 2023.

A three-denomination delegation begins nine-day journey of the Middle East: Seven faith leaders from three North American Protestant denominations are coming together in a nine day journey to the Middle East this week.

Szabina Sztojka is one of the first Roma clergywomen ordained in the Reformed Church in Hungary. She works with international students as associate minister at St. Columba’s International Church in Budapest, and she leads the RCH Roma Ministry. In this edited conversation, she talks about inviting Roma and ethnic Hungarians to recognize God’s gifts in each other.

African churches launch human rights award: Through a biennial award, churches in Africa are moving to recognize individuals or organizations who show progressive and tangible faith-based leadership in the fields of human rights, good governance, and the rule of law.

As part of its initiative Pathways to Peace, the Conference of European Churches, together with Inclusive Peace, will hold a webinar on the role of faith-based actors in political processes – comparative experiences and implications regarding Ukraine and Russia. The webinar will be held on Monday, 24 April, 15:00 – 17:30 (CET).

The World Council of Churches offered insights and participated in dialogue at the Youth Pre-assembly for National Council of Churches in India. Organized by the India Peace Centre, the Youth Pre-assembly was held under the theme “The Hour has Come: The hour of Youth Building a World of Peace and Sustainability.”
