To let more people understand the meaning of Easter, Ming-De Church of Taipei Presbytery in the eve of Easter cooperated with six other neighboring churches, including Tian-Mu Church, Shi-Dong Church, International Japanese Church, Lan-Ya Church, Christian Church Tien-Mu, Zhi-Shan-Yan Grace Church, to showcase 400 Easter eggs on the eighth floor of Tianmu SOGO Department Store (exhibited from March 29 to April 9) and the first floor of Tian-Mu Shin-Kong Mitsukoshi First Building (exhibited from April 1 to 16). Rev Chang Suo-en, pastor of Ming-De Church, hopes that in addition to annual Beer Festival and Halloween held in Tian-Mu area, Easter will also become a very important local festival inviting everyone to share and enjoy the good news. .

At the press conference for the Easter Eggs Exhibition event on March 29, Rev Huang Hsin-yi, pastor of Lan-Ya Church, expresses that it becomes very common now the department stores and restaurants will showcase colorful bulbs and beautiful trees at Christmas night to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ; yet there is another important holiday for the Christians, i.e. Easter, which commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ shedding his precious blood to save the world and the resurrection from the dead three days after his death. To commemorate the sacrifice of the Son of God, Christians shall help people understand the meaning of life and the hope of eternal life on Easter, Rev Huang said, wishing that on Easter Day, April 9, everyone could go to the church to experience the love of God through Jesus’ resurrection.

When the time comes close to the Easter, most churches always set up activities to paint Easter Eggs. Following the customs, Rev Chang Suo-en said, Ming-De Church also began to paint Easter Eggs with children in children’s Sunday schools, community children-care classes, painting classrooms and elders in the Elderly Sunshine Day Center about four years ago, and showcased them in the shops on the first floor of the community center’s display window. As some church elders suggested that the church should try to follow some Christian hospitals to display Easter Eggs in the down-town spots, therefore, Ming-De Church started to cooperate with many churches at Tian-Mu area to showcase Easter Eggs publicly in the department stores during Easter festival, in order to let people know more about resurrection and the origin of the Easter,

Rev Chang Suo-en frankly expressed that, during the period inquiring about the suitable venue of exhibition, a booked venue was unexpectedly cancelled, but thanks our good Lord and the good-will from two department stores, Tian-Mu SOGO and Tian-Mu Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, 800 Easter eggs from the seven churches were finally able to showcase at two wonderful venues. Rev Chang sincerely wishes that in the next two to three years, thousands of people can celebrate Easter in Tian-Mu Sports Park and make Easter an annual grand event in Tian-Mu area.
