Taipei Presbytery Launches A Training Workshop For Long-Term Care In Aging

To facilitate local church’s senior citizen ministries, for example outdoor activity, health check and community care, can be equipped with some practical techniques knowing how to locate and use social resources from both the government and non-profitable organization, a training workshop of practical care for senior citizen is held at the office of the Bible Society in Taiwan on August 19 and 20.

Sponsored by both the Church and Society Committee of Taipei Presbytery, and the Senior Citizen Evergreen Social Welfare Foundation, an institute under the Peace Foundation of PCT’s General Assembly, the programs of this training workshop is designed and processed by a very creative social enterprise called “Day, See and Chat” – meaning “Local, Care and Communicate”. And two major themes, partnership and innovation, are specially stressed in the workshop to improve the quality and efficiency of local church’s traditional service ministries for senior citizen within their communities.

Seeing Taiwan in 2026 will become a super-aged society, over 20% of the population will be over 65-year-old, Rev Chang Sor-en, director of Church and Society Committee of Taipei Presbytery, together with Ms Chen Marie, chief executive officer of Senior Citizen Evergreen Social Welfare Foundation, and many other church pastors, especially share and exchange their thoughts in the workshop on how to organize the resources from the government, community and non-profitable organization, and efficiently utilize internet technology and innovative idea to deliver the best care service for every senior citizen in community.

In the meantime, many innovative projects of social enterprise and community service engaged by grass-root groups from Keelung, Hualien and some aboriginal villages are also introduced to workshop members by the group of “Day, See and Chat”. With an edge of technical efficiency and innovative idea, a new wave of social care and service for senior-aged society is booming!
