Taiwan Church News 3431 Edition November 27 – December 3, 2017 Church Ministry Chiayi Presbytery, YMCA And Tourism Association Send 70,000 Vegetable Seedlings To Tsou Aboriginal Community Reported by Chen Yi-fan In order to facilitate the economics and jobs of aboriginal community, especially after the destructive impact of Morakot Typhoon in 2009, PCT Chiayi Presbytery, YMCA and Chiayi Tourism Association held an annual event of offering free vegetable seedlings, packaged in 600 cartons with 70,000 units of shoots this year, to Tsou aboriginal community before the service center of Mr Chang Ming-da – current Moderator of Chiayi County Council – on November 22. Entering the 9th anniversary of demonstrating fraternal love, Rev Hwang Tsan-zeng, director of Church and Society Committee of Chiayi Presbytery, affirmed this annual charity action as a good tradition of church’s ministry offering vegetable seedlings free to Tsou aboriginal community. The most valuable meaning of this event is to help our aboriginal brothers and sisters to stick to their daily field works without having to leave their beloved families and tribal community, Rev Hwang said. Rev Hwang Che-hong, pastor of Ming Hsiung Presbyterian Church and a long-term committed member of this charity event, urged more churches to care for this ministry by buying more vegetable produces after these seedlings are grown up and harvested. “Offering the vegetable seedlings is just the beginning of this ministry, the critical challenge is to help establish a strong sale channel network to sustain a healthy tribal economics!”, Rev Hwang expressed.
