MacKay Memorial Hospital Pledges An Upgraded Medicare Support In Remote Areas

Reported by Lin Yi-ying

Working with Health and Welfare Ministry under a cooperative project, named as Integrated Delivery System(IDS), MacKay Memorial Hospital(MMH) has always been respected by Taiwan society for her long-term medicare commitment to serving the aborigines in remote mountains in the past 16 years.

Stationed at Jien-shih Township of Hsin-chu County and equipped with one physician and three nurses, MMH’s Sanitary Center is responsible for the health of several thousands aboriginal inhabitants scattered among nine villages. A small clinic, though, routine services of this Sanitary Center are never less professional and heavy-duty than those medicare proceedings done in urban hospitals. More often, these MMH physicians and nurses have to deliver a itinerary service reaching out to those patients who are difficult to leave their homes.

In a recent itinerary medicare service celebrating the 16th anniversary of joining the IDS, MMH’s chairman Mr Liu Bor-en and Vice Superintendent Dr Chang Hang-wen announced to upgrade MMH’s service in remote areas with an medicare automobile and an entrance into cloud-computing long-distance support. Launching this new project, Mr Liu urged Taiwan society to give more resources improving the health of the aborigines in remote villages.
