PCT Prepares To Deliver A Statement On The 70th Anniversary Of 228 Massacre Event

Reported by Lin Yi-yin

As the 228 massacre event in 2017 will mark its 70th anniversary, PCT and Cathoic Church in Taiwan plan to hold ajoint commemorative service at Chi-nan Presbyterian Church of Chi-hsin Presbytery on 28 February 2017. The purpose of this service is to invite Taiwan churches to understand, care and pray for this historical event and its ongoing impact on current Taiwan society.

A statement drawing panel, set up by the 5th representatives meeting under the 61 round of PCT GeneralAssembly, includes chairman Rev Chuang Chi-chien, Rev Cheng Yang-en, Elder Hwang Chau-hong, Rev Cheng Kuo-chon, Rev Lin Wei-lien. Whether this 70th anniversary commemorative statement on 228 event would be released in the form as a pastoral letter or plainly as a common letter of calling, it depends on the panel's decision after deliberation.
