Fundraising Concert Raises NT$ 1.8 Million For Yu-Shan Theological College And Seminary(YSTCS)

Reported by Lin Yi-yin

As YSTCS's cash and saving is insufficient to pay for the second phase engineering of her educational compoundbuilding, a musical fundraising concert organized by MacKay Memorial Hospital was held at Taipei's Liyan's Banquet Hall on January 14.

Under a joint calling by Rev Chen Fu-chu(a retired pastor), Rev Lyim Hong-tiong(PCT general secretary), Mr LiuBor-un( chairman of MacKay Memorial Hospital), and Dr Seh So-chuan(Superintendent of MMH), many Christian entrepreneurs were invited to attend this fundraising concert and NT$ 1.8 million was raised for YSTCS.

To build up an ideal compound for modern aboriginal theological education, YSTCS invested in this project quite a lotof money in the past years. Some recurrent costs, reserve cash, and even the budget to buy library dehumidifier were shifted to pay for the ongoing engineering project. All these things caused YSTCS a big shortage in cash flow, and once almost being unable to pay the salary to her faculty and staff.

After Taiwan Church News reported, on the head line of TCN 3380 edition, that Rev Dr Pushin Tali(president ofYSTCS) was unfortunately bitten by the poisonous snake during his labor service on the campus, an anonymous Christian physician promptly donated NT$ 2.2 millions for YSTCS. And within ten days, the donations for YTCS reached NT$ 4 million. Indeed, these amazing charity did some in time relief to YSTCS's financial conundrum, but the accumulated offerings were still far away YSTCS's real demand.

Except prayer and intercession for YSTCS, Rev Lyim Hong-tiong urged PCT members to step up in practical actions to help alleviate the financial burden of YSTCS. This is because YSTCS is a theological seminary intending to send out evangelists to serve the minorities and the marginalized in Taiwan and around the world.
