PCT Urges Members To Care About AIDS Patients, The Disabled, And Human Rights In Thanksgiving Season

As December 3 is set up by PCT as the day of caring about the disabled, December 4 the day of caring about AIDSpatients, and December 10 the 68 anniversary of Human Rights Day since 1948, PCT's Church and Society Committee (CSC) sent a letter to every church urging PCT members carrying on their care for PCT institutes serving the disabled and the AIDS patients in southern Taiwan in Kang-shan, Ping-tung and Peng-hu areas.

According to Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare, the population of the disabled in current Taiwan is about4.93%. Since 2000 A.D., PCT had started writing letters to each her member church encouraging them to proceed a comprehensive care for the mind, body and soul of the disabled.

In the meantime, as the patient of AIDS still can not receive a fair treatment in current hospital, church and family,CSC also urged PCT members to take this issue seriously. Because AIDS patients do not only have to fight against this deadly disease in their bodies, the social stigma and discrimination against AIDS patients in Taiwan society is also a concerned issue to be properly solved, according to CSC.

On the 68th anniversary of the Human Rights Day, CSC asked Taiwan churches to have a reflection about pasthuman rights education and its related ministries done in our church and community. Let us try to care and reach those marginalized people, never protected by any human rights, with the real love from Christ, advised CSC.
