A Citizen Dialogue Between Aboriginal Independence And Taiwan Independence: Better To Be True Friends Rather Than Feignd Families!

Reported by Chiu Kuo-rong

A citizen dialogue, organized by Free Taiwan Party, concerning the difference and struggle between aboriginalindependence and Taiwan independence is held at the HQ office of the Alliance of Referendum for Taiwan in the night on March 31.

Ms Savungaz Valincinan, an aboriginal youth representative of the Indigenous Youth Front, points out in herremarkable humor that many Taiwan independence activists are most anxious to know: To what extent should the land of Taiwan be returned back to the aboriginal? "Thank you, it's all Taiwan!", Savungaz says in wit.

A humor, though, but it's truth in history, says Savungaz. She says the top priority issue, current aboriginal independence activists want to claim, is the public land held by the government; the second priority is certainly the private lands owned by Taiwan society.

Savungaz takes a recent example of Hua-lien County Government's confiscation of an aboriginal traditionalinhabited land of 1.78 hectare to accommodate the stray dogs."This is a brute invasion into our people's land!", accuses Savungaz.

Regarding the relationship between aboriginal Independence and Taiwan independence, Savungaz admits there is something complicated between them, especially when the anxiety of Taiwan independence is taken into consideration. However, Savungaz concludes, "we had better be true friends or good neighbors rather than feigned families".

Mr Chou Wei-li, a Taiwan Independence youth activist with a PCT background, stresses "the movement of Taiwanindependence has to be very careful in the process" to avoid generating any oppression to other peoples. Constant dialogue and communication are the most important methods to push Taiwan Independence forward!
