PCT Issues Pastoral Letter To Care For Victims Of Water Park Inferno

Reported by Lin Yi-yin

Since the water park inferno happened in the night on June 27, Rev. Zeng Wen-ren(PCT General Assembly Moderator) leading his staffs at PCT Church and Society Committee and Indigenous Mission Committee had immediately gone to visit some victims who were PCT members at the hospitals at Kaohsiung and Taipei on June 28 and 29.

At 5:00 p.m.in the afternoon on July 2, PCT General Assembly officials, including Rev. Zeng Wen-ren, Rev. SuduTata(Vice Moderator), Rev. Lyim Hong-tiong(General Secretary) and Rev. Hwang Zeh-hon(Director of Church and Society Committee), went to visit Mackay Memorial Hospital(MMH) in order to know what PCT can do for the water park inferno victims and pay their utmost tribute to the medical task force engaged in this urgent rescue operation whole-heartedly.

Received by MMH's Superintendent Dr. Young Yu-cheng and his Administrative Deputy Dr. Chang Wen-hsin,PCT GA officials were briefed about MMH's medical treatment about the victims of the inferno and submitted their blessing notes each on the wall of the hospital lobby.

Rev. Zeng highly praised the medical staffs of MMH, demonstating the spirit of medical missionaries with dedicatedlove and sacrifice before Taiwan public: not only mobilize the medi-care task force thoroughly and efficiently with the code of "emergence 333", meaning volumes of patint flooded in hospital, but also proceed a very good coordination within MMH's 3 medical sites.

On July 3, PCT GA officially issued a pastoral letter urging all PCT churches and institutes to care for the victims ofthis tragic Water Park Inferno, as this is the most serious calamity with 500 people burnt and hundreds in Intensive Care Unit(ICU) since Morakot Typhoon in 2009. For the therapy of such burning injury will be a long path for the patients, families and Taiwan society, a special postal account for remittance is also opened by PCT as "1956-6285". Please note to specify "For Water Park Inferno" in remittance.
