Civil Groups Ask KMT Return Her Illegal Party Assets To Taiwan People

Reported by Lin Yi-ying

In the afternoon of May 13, hundreds of civil groups and protesters gathered in front of Kuomintang(KMT) asking her illegal party assets accumulated in the past 70 years should be annulled by giving them back to Taiwan people. With banners, card boards and gunnysacks, protesters sang the satirical songs, played street drama and demanded KMT assets be dropped into the gunnysacks labelled as Taiwan National Treasury.

Mr Wang Hsien-ji, founder of Taiwan Republic Campaign and member of Gikong Presbyterian church, pointed out that KMT party assets illegally appropriated in the past 70 years probably had reached trillions of NT dollars. For the KMT officials, their party assets were too much complicated to be listed with a clear account. And these super-colossal assets and money were always easily transformed into a giant power-engine in Taiwan election to finance KMT candidates or directly bribe the voters for their ballots.

Ma Ying-jeou(former KMT Chairman) and Eric Chu(current KMT Chairman) all swore to annul their party assets on their inauguration but broke their promises afterwards; Ma Ying-jeou even sold the party assets with financial tricks and cover-up. According to a 2014 statistics report of Nation Property Administration, the assets value of KMT's illegally appropriated land amounts 6.10 billions NT dollars(not to mention current commercial values of these lands would be ten-folded up at least).

"It's enough for Taiwan people to endure this injustice!", exclaimed Wang. He turned into the KMT representative a "Promise Of Annulling KMT Assets", asking Chairman Eric Chu to fulfill his inaugural promise to reduce KMT assets unto zero. Wang also expresses the "Army of Annulling KMT Assets" will keep campaigning across Taiwan until the ends is met.
