Taiwan International Religious Freedom Forum Launched On May 30th

Reported by Lin Yi-yin

Following the 2019 Regional Freedom Forum, held by Taiwan Democracy Foundation in March, the first-time ever Taiwan International Religious Freedom Forum(TIRFF) is going to be held at the Presbyterian Bible College in Hsin-Chu City from May 30 to June 1.

Many reknown global religious leaders, including the Nobel Peace Laurate His Holiness Dalai Lama, from around the world are invited to participate this forum, according to Rev Lyim Hong-tiong, General Secretary of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, who is one of the co-host of this TIRFF.

Affirming the invitation of Dalai Lama as positive and expressing to see him in Taiwan, President Tsai Ing-wen is also invited to deliver a speech at opening ceremony.

As a minster-level religious freedom forum is scheduled to be held in US by United States Commission of International Religious Freedom(USCIRF) from July 16 – 18, 2019, over 80 countries’ government officials and religious leaders would be invited to take part into this meeting, the proceeding and results of this TIRFF at Taiwan is highly attended by the US government, according to the people familiar with the matter.
