Dear Siok- hui and family, We were surprised and delighted to receive your parcel this morning with the lovely Christmas card, the beautiful necktie and the lovely scarf. Please convey to our friends in Taiwan our deep appreciation of their kindness. We are deeply moved when we are reminded of the love and affection of all our friends in Taiwan and the presents arriving from Taiwan brought back many happy moments of our days working within the warm friendliness of the people all over Taiwan. How much we miss our students and members of Tai peng keng and East Gate churches and the new church on Phok-ai Lo. We met some Taiwanese students recently in Windermere and discovered that they were students from Tainan University. So we had a good chat with them about our time teaching there. Thank you for remembering us at this time. It reminded me of the celebrations in 1965 when I was responsible for a team of Tainan Theological College students who had to photograph all the events in Tainan. Happy days! Love and best wishes to all the family. Peng-an. Walter and Doreen Carruthers (URC former missionaries retired in England) |
