The PCT is delighted to convey a warm birthday blessing to Miss Alvinza Riddoch李恩慈 who will mark her 100th birthday on 3 May 2014! Miss Riddoch served as a PCT missionary partner in Taiwan under the former English Presbyterian Mission (United Reformed Church) – Council for World Mission (CWM) from 1952 until her retirement in 1975 when she returned to her native England, UK. Prior to coming to Taiwan Miss Riddoch also served with the Church of Christ in China, Yungchun (1946-48) and the Presbyterian Girls’ School in Singapore (1949-52). Beginning her Taiwan missionary journey in Changhua and Taichung Alvinza Riddoch was then assigned to the Tainan Theological College and Seminary where she taught between 1956 and 1968. Following a time of leave in England she returned to Taiwan and that time was assigned to serve at the Presbyterian Bible College in Hsinchu where she remained until her retirement in 1975. Until the past recent years Miss Riddoch lived alone but due to failing eyesight now resides at the Methodist Homes for the Aged in Northumberland. Rev. Lo Jen-Kuei, PCT Moderator, 59th General Assembly and PCT General Secretary, Rev. Lyim Hong-Tiong, sent congratulations and assurance of prayers on behalf of the church to Alvinza Riddoch李恩慈. Adding their regrets they could not personally join the celebrations in England. In addition to congratulating Miss Riddoch they stated, “We thank you for your dedication and for sharing your teaching skills and the love of Christ to the people of our land.” “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26) They appointed Rev. Chung Shou-Hui, PCT-URC-CWM mission partner in Manchester, England to represent PCT on this joyous occasion and deliver the greetings.
