Rev. Lyim Hong-Tiong General Secretary Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) Dear Rev. Lyim Hong-Tiong,
Greetings from NCCPhilippines!
I am writing in behalf of our General Secretary, Rev. Rex Reyes Jr. who is presently in Canada attending partners meeting. I am the coordinator of the NCCP's Relief and Rehabilitation Program.
Thank you very much for your concern. Based on the official reports of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the death toll is increasing as search and rescue workers continue to reach areas severely affected by the earthquake.
I am traveling to Cebu early morning tomorrow, together with some of our staff to conduct rapid damage assessment and coordinate with the NCCP member churches (UCCP, IFI, CPBC, TSA) and other partner organizations in Cebu and Bohol for proper coordination.
Initially, there is urgent need for food, water, temporary shelter and sleeping materials. We have sent out an alert through NCCP's website (nccphilippines.org) requesting for assistance.
We actually have a colleague at the NCCP Ecumenical Center whose parents, siblings and relatives are now staying in the evacuation center because their houses were damaged.
Please find below our Alert Bulletin. We will send out updates as soon as we have additional information.
Thank you very much.
With kind regards,
Minnie Anne ________________________________ MINNIE ANNE M. CALUB Program Secretary Program Unit on Faith, Witness and Service National Council of Churches in the Philippines
