Dear Friends This note comes to inform you the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) received word today from Canada that our former missionary colleague and friend Elder John (Jack) E. Geddes was called home to the Lord on Monday, 27 March 2017 Jack Geddes (born in Canada 21 November 1930), together with his wife “Betty” F. M. Geddes was appointed as missionary partners by the Presbyterian Church in Canada (PCC) in 1958 and first arrived in Taiwan January 1959. They had six children who were raised in Taiwan (three daughters and three sons) Paul, Heather, Debbie, David, Maria, John. They served the Lord faithfully until retirement in 2000 (culminating 42 years of missionary service), however, Jack and Betty returned to Taiwan for another two and half years in a volunteer capacity with the PCT General Assembly and finally “retired” to Canada in June 2003. Sadly not long after retirement, Mr. Geddes’ health situation declined until 2011 he needed long-term residential care; and he was lovingly supported and regularly visited by his wife Mrs. Betty Geddes and children. During his years in Taiwan Jack Geddes dedicated his gifts as teacher and his passion for language and history to teach countless numbers of students and serve the wider community.
