Char Alexander (then Bos) first arrived Taiwan in 1976 as part of the PCT General Assembly Campus Ministries Summer English Program (SEP) for eight (8) weeks. She began her teaching career as a primary school teacher in USA but returned to Taiwan a second time as a short term missionary in 1978 for one year at the PCT Kaohsiung Presbytery Campus Ministries Center. During the years 1979-1981 Char was Administrative assistant at General Assembly of Reformed Church in America (RCA) and in 1980 she married David Alexander. Shortly after they were appointed as missionaries of the Reformed Church in America (RCA) arriving Taiwan (this time together) for the third time on 21 March 1982 and began to study Taiwanese language ready for ministry. During their years in Taiwan Char and Dave were blessed with two children, both born in Kaohsiung, (daughter) Katherine in 1985 and (son) Grant in 1991. Char Alexander was recipient of Taiwan Ministry of Interior (MOI) recognition for long-term service in 2007 and 2015. She is now a naturalized citizen of Taiwan.
The years in Taiwan with the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT) Char Alexander served the Lord in the following areas:
1976 PCT General Assembly Campus Ministries Summer English Program (SEP)
1978 for one year at the PCT Kaohsiung Presbytery Campus Ministries Center
21 March 1982 arrived Taiwan appointed as missionary of the Reformed Church in America (RCA)
1982-1984 Taiwanese Language Study
1984-1996 Shou Shan Presbytery Campus Ministry Center
1984-1994 National Chung Shan University (Part time)
1995-1996 Kao-yuan Technical school (Part time)
1996 to the present time (2018) Chang Jung Christian University department of Translation studies
2008-2009 Tainan Theological College (Part time)
