Sex is a Beautiful Divine Gift.

It Must be Built upon a Foundation of Love

Chiou Yi-wei teaches in the Social Work Department at Tainan Theological College, a school affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan (PCT).  She notes that open attitudes towards sex, the availability of abortion pills and the superficiality of Taiwan's values have resulted in a low valuation of life among youth.  The ideology of "do as you please" prevails.  This flies in the face of God's instruction. Teaching psychologically and biologically healthy sex education makes promotion of pre-marital sexual abstinence a must.

Sex is a divinely given beautiful gift.  But before sex, there must be a foundation of love.  Ms. Chiou says, "We are meeting a change in social attitudes which now accept 'fast food sex' as normal and references to sexual intercourse as normal conversation. But sex is a precious jewel!

Sex is absolutely beautiful.  It is not to be taken casually, but to be respected.  The ten commandments limit the arena in which people are to exercise sexual freedom.  Sex is protected and limited.  Premarital sexual sexual intercourse among young people is displeasing to God."

Ms. Chiou charges the media and society a large with spreading illegitimate ideas about sex.  Young people are drawn through the internet, pornography and other means to erroneous understandings.  If we want to forestall these errors, what must we do?  She suggests, "Establish Christian homes, where Christ is at the center of life.  Be led by God." She adds, "Submission to lust is a kind of death, submission to the Holy Spirit is life.  Those who are in Christ live, and can avoid lustful enticement, then can attain true love and true marriage promise."
